Young Boy at Elephant Sanctuary

I met this boy in northern Thailand at an elephant sanctuary. The boy's family lived there and tended to the elephants. When tourists would visit, the family would bring out their handmade trinkets to sell. In this photo, the boy is bringing a bucket of food to one of the elephants. There are many "sanctuaries" in Thailand, but I chose this one specifically because in many others, the elephants are chained up for long periods of time and are forced to give visitors rides on their backs. Here, the elephants were treated like family. No chains, no riding, no forced performances. Just come and interact with them. If you're ever in Thailand, check them out. Here's their website.
